Off World Colonies Interior Version II

For my showreel and as a learning exercise, I decided to take the Off World Colonies Interior model I had worked on at the end of last year as a team into Blender to render out an animated sequence. For the origninal assessment we had to render out at 540p to ensure that the sequence was ready in time. As a comparison to Maya’s Arnold render engine and Blender’s Cycles render engine; it took me approx. 1 hour per frame at 540p in Arnold and approx 6 mins at 2K per frame in Cycles. Using Blender meant I could try out different camera shots and render more in the time it would take to render in Arnold. The quality of Arnold is brilliant, but for the significant render time difference, I chose to use Blender for this sequence.

I had also been learning compositing in Fusion which I have been really enjoying using. I took the rendered sequence from Blender into Fusion for compositing, aiming for a cinematic, sci-fi feel to the video. I used the concept art we used to model the interior as inspiration for lighting, bringing out the blues and warming the yellows.
